Falcons Team and Tournament Report – July 2020

2023 showcase

The 2023 Falcon season is going well. There’s definitely areas of improvement for us, but the good news is that our guys are pulling for each other. We’ve had a couple tough games where we’ve lost on situational defense, and a couple tough games where we lost when the opposing pitching was really good, but overall our season has been really solid. Our guys like each other, and we are measuring up to the competition well. Hopefully, come August, we will take another step forward and reach another level of play.

2024 showcase

The 2024 team continued its scrappy tournament play during the month of July. Playing all over PA and NJ, the team battled in just about every game. At the BSE Fireworks Explosion tournament July 4 weekend, the team competed hard in every game, and built on that momentum going into the Perfect Game Wood Bat tournament in NJ. The team made the playoffs after a victory in their first two pool play games and continued their strong play in their first playoff game, grabbing a lead in the 5th inning two games in a row. Next up, semi-finals! We played a strong Richmond County Nationals team and bowed out to the team who eventually won the championship without giving up a run. We went directly from the PG tournament semis on Sunday to Diamond Nation the next day and continued strong pool play. Team 2024 finished up the month with a USABL tournament in Monmouth county NJ, and despite the disappointing results, continued to build and learn and compete. We are looking forward to August!

The 12U team record this far is 18-7-1. We have been in three championship games, out of five tournaments. We have one championship beating the #1 Ranked 12U team in NY, (NY Angels) twice, once in pool play and again in the championship. The 12U Falcons have fought back from many deficits, including this last weekend’s semi-final game where they were down 6-0 in the first inning. We hope to continue to ride this hot wave moving forward this summer. Go Falcons!!!

July had its ups and downs for the 11U squad. With some clutch hitting by our big bats and strong pitching performances by our starting pitchers and bullpen at the BSE tournament, we came just shy of the Championship. Slowly but surely, this team is coming together and showing much improvement.

The 9u Falcons played and won their first tournament, the USABL Jersey Battle tournament July 11th & 12th. The team lead by coach Wendy Gomez went undefeated after facing tough competition from the Long Island Ducks and RCBC. This is a great first step in the development of this young Falcons team. League Play competition is in full swing, keeping our team busy and focused. We’re looking forward to our next tournaments which include USABL Staten Island and Ripken.
